GLAMPING … luxury camping in our meadow

Camping plus glamorous becomes … glamping….

It’s a new word for a new kind of travel, defined as glamorous camping.  Glamping is camping with style and flair. It is the act of camping in luxury. Hot showers and down comforters.  A beautiful tent set up with a comfortable bed.

The idea of roughing it during a camping trip might sound appealing to many vacationers if it weren’t for the bugs, wild animals, sudden storms, leaking tents, smelly sleeping bags, and questionable food. For a number of people, their first camping experience often becomes their last, but there is now a camping option growing in popularity: glamorous camping, otherwise known as glamping.

Recently, this trend has become popular with vacation travelers and outdoor enthusiasts who want to be outside in a beautiful natural environment without the hassle of pitching a tent or sleeping on the ground. When you’re glamping, there’s no tent to pitch, no sleeping bag to unroll, no fire to build. Whether in a tent, yurt, airstream, hut, villa or treehouse, glamping is a way to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury.

Glamping – a fusion of glamour and camping – emerged international and came across the Atlantic over the last decade. Hospitality providers are capitalizing on a growing demand for travelers who want to experience the positive aspects of camping without the “uncomfortable” negatives.

GLAMPING ON OUR HOBBY FARM:

This spring after the snow melts, my friend Perry and I are going to build four fabulous glamorous tents in the meadow behind my barn.  We’ll start by building wooden decks, then building the wooden poles and draping a white canvas tent with full screening.  Then … new beds with feather quilts which I’ve been sewing all winter, treasured rugs and antiques, battery lights, fairy lights, picnic table, fire pit, water cooler and possibly a small woodstove.

We’ll be listed soon on airbnb.com … rates will be between $125 and $150 a night for double occupancy.  Breakfast will be brought to your tent in the morning … Can’t wait!
